What's that smell? |
My humble attempt at a cooking blog. Email me any great recipes you have. I'll try them out and if I like them, I'll post them here. Proper credit given, of course. angelasangle@gmail.com |
We had a wonderful fall day and I, finally, got to go to Larriland Farms, a local “pick your own crops” farm. In addition to the gorgeous, fresh produce they offer, during October they have quite a celebration for Halloween. From the hay ride to the Boo Barn to the Hay Maze, there is a little something for everyone. They offer a wide variety of fair food to eat while you enjoy the festivities, and they have several crops to pick and take home. We did NOT get to try any of the fair food, a very unfortunate event in my book. However, with the bounty of greens I took home, the day was a hit. We got our Halloween pumpkin, plus I picked up a massive head of broccoli, beautiful leaves of spinach, and wonderful kale.

I can’t wait to use the greens in some more wonderful crockery cooking. We have carved our pumpkin and this thing was no joke. Usually, the pumpkins I’ve gotten from the store are somewhat hollow inside. A couple of scrapes and it’s ready to be carved. This pumpkin had to be whittled down from the inside before we could carve it from the outside. Larriland Farms knows how to grow. Be sure to check in your area and support local farmers.
Henry did not want to take a picture, but there’s our Jack-O-Latern!
